First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has secured a transformative partnership with the Qatar Foundation to address the country’s out-of-school crisis, targeting over 15 million children, including Almajiri.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Doha with Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Founder and Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation.
The Qatar Foundation has committed to collaborating with Nigeria’s Ministry of Education to implement an innovative schooling model that integrates Islamic and formal education.
The initiative will provide safe, well-equipped learning environments, complete with boarding facilities, mosques, and skill acquisition centers to empower students with both academic and vocational skills.
Sheikha Moza also pledged the Foundation’s support in training teachers and program facilitators to ensure high-quality education and the sustainability of the initiative.
This partnership represents a significant step toward tackling Nigeria’s long-standing challenge of out-of-school children, offering millions of young Nigerians a pathway to education and a brighter future.
The First Lady’s efforts shows the Federal Government’s commitment to reducing educational disparities and fostering inclusive development across the country.
