First Lady Remi Tinubu Empowers 500 Nasarawa Women With Household Items

LAFIA – Nigeria’s First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Friday empowered 500 less-privileged women in Nasarawa State with household items to improve their livelihoods.

The items include deep freezers, standing gas cookers and ovens, grinding machines and generators.

Speaking during the presentation of the items at the Government House Lafia, Oluremi Tinubu, said the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The President’s wife who was represented at the event by the Nasarawa State First Lady, Silifat Abdullahi-Sule said the items distributed were meant to ameliorate their socio-economic challenges.

While urging the beneficiaries to use the items to better their lives, and not to sell them, Oluremi applauds the women for their continuos support to sustaining the existing peace and unity among all ethnic groups in the state.

According to the wife of the president, “The aim of distributing these items is to empower everyone of you and improve your social-economic statuses. The Renewed Hope Initiative will continue to support and empower less-privileged women in order for everyone of us to have a better society.

“I, therefore appeal to all the 500 beneficiaries not to sell the empowerment items so that soon, they will also be able to contribute positively to the State and Nigeria at large,” she said.

In her welcome address, the wife of Nasarawa State governor Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, represented by Elsie Monde, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Women Affairs, lauded the wife of President Tinubu for the empowerment programme.

While assuring of the state women’s commitment to supporting the Tinubu-led administration, the Nasarawa State First Lady maintained that the items presented would go a long way in addressing the economic challenges of the beneficiaries.

In her goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Emmanuel Yonah pledged the continued support of the ministry to the Renewed Hope Initiative of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for optimal productivity.
