Fire ravages agric agency building in Ibadan


Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of a fire that ravaged the Agricultural Business Development Agency in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

DAILY POST gathered that the agency is located in the Total Garden area of Ibadan.

The incident occurred on Tuesday.

It was learnt that electrical sparks from a solar inverter control board on the upper floor of the building caused the fire.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

He added that the fire occurred on Tuesday.

Akinwande, in a statement made available to DAILY POST, said that no life was lost in the incident.

He said, “Upon arrival, it was discovered that electrical sparks from the solar inverter control board on the upper floor of the building caused the fire.

“The swift response and professional intervention of our officers prevented the situation from escalating into a major disaster. Portable fire extinguishers were employed during the firefighting operation.

“No casualties were recorded, and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the fire service. The fire incident was caused by electrical sparks from the inverter system.”
