Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has reiterated his commitment to transforming the livestock sector as a way of boosting economic growth and improving food security in the state.

A statement by the media aide, Zayyad Mohammed, said Finitiri has initiated and implemented several projects and policies aimed at modernising livestock farming, addressing long-standing challenges and enhancing the livelihoods of farmers and herders.

He listed some key initiatives and achievements of Governor Fintiri to include National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP), development of grazing reserves, enhancing market access, conflict resolution and community engagement, as well as youth and women empowerment programmes.

He noted that the project would equally modernise livestock farming by providing a controlled environment for breeding, grazing, and disease management. “Market access has improved, particularly at the Mubi Livestock Market, which supplies 29 million animals annually to Lagos State, generating N29 billion in revenue.

“Governor Fintiri’s transformative initiatives in the state’s livestock sector are yielding significant results, including increased productivity, higher farmer incomes, and enhanced food security. The administration has laid a solid foundation for the long-term growth of the livestock industry in the state by promoting sustainable practices and fostering partnerships with the Federal government and international organisations. This has positioned Adamawa as a leader in Nigeria’s livestock sector.

“In collaboration with the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, the Adamawa State Government distributed inputs and machinery to 23,000 livestock farmers last month. This initiative is aimed at bolstering livestock productivity and resilience, contributing to the sector’s overall development.

“The governor has continued to focus on innovation, community engagement and infrastructural development. This is expected to further transform the sector and position Adamawa State as a leader in livestock farming in Nigeria,” he stated.
