Adamawa State has taken another bold step in its journey toward digital governance with the commencement of a full-scale digitization process at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), focusing on the Departments of Cabinet Affairs and Political Affairs.

The Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, gave his approval for the initiative as part of the state’s broader strategy to modernize public administration, improve service delivery, and ensure government operations keep pace with global digital trends.

This groundbreaking project is a key component of the Adamawa 2.0 Digital Transformation Agenda, a reform blueprint designed to streamline workflows, enhance inter-departmental coordination, and guarantee the secure and efficient management of official records. By digitizing records and processes, the government aims to reduce bureaucratic delays, improve transparency, and strengthen institutional memory.

As part of oversight and progress monitoring, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, on Monday, August 11, 2025, undertook a working visit to the Archives Section under his office. The visit allowed him to assess existing record-keeping systems, review digitization readiness, and interact with staff on the importance of adapting to the new digital framework.

He was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for Political Affairs, Mal. Ibrahim Buba; the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, E-Governance, and Policy, Dr. Ahmed Hammajam Adamu; the Executive Secretary of ADIPA, Mr. Halilu Malabu; and the Special Adviser on Food Security.

Governor Fintiri’s administration has consistently championed reforms that embrace technology as a tool for efficient governance, from automating civil service processes to introducing digital platforms for public engagement. The digitization of the SSG’s office marks yet another milestone in the state’s effort to create a modern, responsive, and transparent government system that meets the needs of its citizens.
