Rivers United head coach Finidi George has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday three encounter with El-kanemi Warriors.
The former champions held their hosts to 0-0 draw at the El-kanemi Stadium, Maiduguri on Sunday.
Finidi’s Assessment
Finidi said his team deserved a share of the spoils from the game.
“I must tell you that this is a difficult place to come and pick a point, but today I think we defended well, especially in the last 25 minutes of the game,”Finidi said after the game.
“We tried to play on the counter, which I feel we got closer, but it was not possible. The first half was kind of 50-50; I think we controlled the game a little bit more.
” We tried to push forward to see if we could get a goal. But in the second half, I think in the last 25 minutes, they pushed us back.

“We had to defend deep , and see how we could go on the counter. In as much as we tried to go on the counter, they were always quicker to the ball, and then they piled that pressure on us. But I think overall, we are quite happy with the one point.”
Unbeaten Run Extended
Rivers United are unbeaten in the NPFL this season after three games.
The Port Harcourt club occupy eighth position on the standings with five points.
Finidi’s side will host Shooting Stars in their next game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt this weekend.
