FG To Deliver Mandate To Produce Transportation Experts In Nigeria – Independent Newspaper Nigeria


KATSINA – The Federal Ministry of Transportation has expressed readiness to deliver it’s mandate to disseminate specialized knowledge in all modes of transportation to produce experts for the country.

Senator Said Ahmed Alkali made this declaration during the 2nd Matriculation ceremony of 529 students held FUT multipurpose hall in Daura on Saturday.

Alkali noted that it is the hope and aspirations of government to produce graduates of the highest quality who can compete favourably with other graduates all over the world.

“We will deliver on our mandates to disseminate specialized knowledge in all modes of transportation to produce Nigerian experts that will utilize policy, law and industry practices to make the transport sector the pride of Nigerian economy,” he said.

The Minister on behalf of the Federal government appreciated the CCECC Nigeria Limited for its multi-dimensional support and commitment in building the university as part of its social corporate responsibility to Nigeria and support to the institution.

As Nigeria continues to laud this giant contributions, he, however, appealed to CCECC Nigeria Limited to sustain similar commitments by commencing the second phase of development project of the university.

Sen Alkali further appreciated Governor Radda and the state government for their continued support to the university, saying that, “no doubt, the Executive Governor values education and it’s importance to societal development, urging the government to sustain the tempo”.

To the Matriculating students, the Minister charged them to take advantage of the opportunity to be serious so that one day become the pride of the university, their parents and the country at large.

Prof Umar Adam Katsayal, the Vice Chancellor, FUT, Daura in his address, attributed funding constraints as major scorching challenges faced in running the affairs of the university, stressing the need for diversification of income resources.

Others he added include the rising costs of running the institution and maintenance of existing infrastructure, electricity provision and security management, navigating regulatory requirements and policies, as well as the nonchalant attitude of some students towards academic pursuits etc.

“Our goal in this University is to nurture professionals who will not only solve the current challenges of transportation industry and technological advancement in the sector”, the VC emphasized, urging the students to embrace the core values that the university stands for, “to becoming the future leaders of our great country, Nigeria”.
