FG Mandates MDAs to Submit Bank Account Details for TSA Compliance

The Federal Government has mandated all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to submit detailed statements of their accounts held in commercial banks, intensifying efforts to ensure full compliance with the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy.

The directive, issued by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, addresses ongoing concerns that several MDAs continue to maintain accounts outside the TSA framework, in violation of prior circulars requiring all government funds to be consolidated under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The TSA, introduced in 2015, aims to promote transparency, curb financial leakages, and enhance accountability by centralizing government revenues and expenditures.

Ogunjimi’s directive emphasises the government’s renewed push to enforce the policy, which has faced resistance from some MDAs operating parallel accounts in commercial banks.

The Accountant-General warned that non-compliance could undermine fiscal discipline and hamper efforts to streamline public financial management.

MDAs are required to submit their account details promptly, with the Office of the Accountant-General set to monitor adherence closely.

This move comes amid broader reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s public finance system, as the government seeks to optimize resources and improve service delivery.
