The Federal Government of Nigeria is in talks with the UK government to secure the transfer of former Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu to Nigeria to serve his remaining jail term.
Recall that Ike Ekweremadu was sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in prison for organ harvesting in 2023.
According to a report from Arise News, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a high-level delegation to meet with UK Ministry of Justice officials to discuss the case of former Deputy Senate President.

Recall that Ike Ekweremadu served as Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President 8th National Assembly from 2015 to 2019.
Ike Ekweremadu was appointed as Deputy Senate President on June 11, 2015 after winning the senatorial election in 2015, representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
He defeated Senator Eleka Utazi in a re-run election and was appointed as Deputy Senate President to Senator Ahmed Lawan, who became the Senate President.
During his tenure as deputy senate president, he contributed to the passage of several bills, including the National Budget and constitutional amendments.
Currently, Ike Ekweremadu has served around 3 years of his 9-year and 8-month sentence in a UK prison for organ harvesting.
