The legal representatives of female estate developer, Uzoamaka Onukwubiri, have dismissed as false the social-media reports claiming she was remanded at the Suleja Custodial Centre over alleged forgery.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Chief Joel A. N. Okoli, a representative of Acacia Law Firm, solicitors to Ms. Onukwubiri and her company, SOW Real Estate Nigeria Ltd, the public was urged to disregard what he described as a “malicious and sponsored” falsehood circulating online since Friday, November 21, 2025.
Chief Okoli clarified that contrary to the viral reports, his client was never remanded and was granted bail, adding that she “slept in her home on the night the fake news was circulated and has continued to go about her normal business activities.”
He attributed the fake news to “certain competitors in the real estate sector who cannot cope with the rapid growth, achievements, and rising profile of SOW Real Estate within its short period of operation.”
The firm also distanced itself from a name quoted in the misleading reports as the supposed defence counsel, one “Joel Okoro.” Chief Okoli stressed that no such person represents Ms. Onukwubiri, adding that the only recognised counsel is Chief Joel A. N. Okoli, Esq., who duly announced appearance before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
“For the record,” he said, “the matter referenced in the sponsored reports — Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/205/2025 — is still pending before Hon. Justice Musa Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja, and has not been determined. It is therefore reckless, desperate, and defamatory for any media organisation to publish such unfounded claims without proper verification.”
The law firm urged the public and the media to rely on verified information and refrain from sharing unsubstantiated reports capable of misleading the public and damaging reputations.
