Quit Claim Deeds seen by SaharaReporters reveal that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his wife, Eberechi Suzette Nyesom-Wike, a Court of Appeal judge, transferred their properties in Florida, United States, into the names of their children between 2021 and 2023.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Wike as FCT Minister in August 2023.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore shared the documents on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, showing that the ownership transfers were executed on July 22, 2021, July 27, 2021, and August 13, 2023.
Details of the 2021 Transfers
One of the Quit Claim Deeds executed on July 22, 2021, shows that Eberechi Nyesom-Wike, married, of 653 Dunblane Drive, Winter Park, Florida, transferred ownership of a property to herself and her son, Joaquin Chibuike Nyesom-Wike, single, as joint tenants with right of survivorship. The grantees’ address is listed as 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, Florida.
A Quit Claim Deed executed on July 27, 2021, shows that Eberechi Nyesom-Wike, married, of 859 Dunblane Drive, Winter Park, Florida, transferred ownership of a property in Seminole County, Florida, to herself and Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, single, as joint tenants with right of survivorship.
The grantees’ listed address is 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, Florida. The transaction was made for a consideration of ten dollars ($10.00) and other valuable considerations.
The property involved is identified as Lot 54, The Reserve at Tuscawilla, Phase II, as recorded in Plat Book 50, Pages 5 through 9, of the Public Records of Seminole County.
The deed confirms that the property has never been the homestead of the grantor, her spouse, or any minor children or dependents, nor is it contiguous to any homestead of the aforementioned parties under Florida law.
The deed includes all tenements, hereditaments, and appurtenances belonging to the property. It transfers all estate, rights, titles, interests, liens, equities, and claims the grantor has, in law or in equity, to the grantees for their exclusive use and benefit.
2023 Transfer
A subsequent Quit Claim deed executed on August 13, 2023, also involved Eberechi Nyesom-Wike. In this document, she transferred a property in Seminole County to herself and Jazmyne Adaeze Nyesom-Wike, single, with the grantee’s address listed as 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, Florida. The legal description of the property is Lot 57, The Reserve at Tuscawilla, Phase II, as recorded in Plat Book 50, Pages 5 through 9, with Parcel Identification Number 06-21-91.
The 2023 deed similarly notes that the property is not and has never been the homestead of the grantor, her spouse, or any minor children or dependents, nor is it contiguous to any homestead of the aforementioned parties.
It also includes all associated tenements, hereditaments, and appurtenances and transfers all rights, titles, interests, and claims to the grantee for their exclusive ownership.
Both deeds were prepared for recording and filed with the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller of Seminole County, Florida, ensuring the legal transfer of ownership.
The transfers were witnessed and signed by Wike and his wife.
Sowore’s Reaction
Confirming the documents, Sowore, a former presidential candidate and convener of #RevolutionNow, wrote, “These are the Quit Claim Deeds that Nigeria’s FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, and his wife, Eberechi Suzette Nyesom-Wike, a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria, used to transfer three different Florida properties into the names of their children, Jordan, Joaquim, and Jasmyne.
“These transfers were done in 2023, but Mr. International Thief said he was not aware.
“With this discovery, it is now also clear that Wike has a fourth property in Florida at 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, FL 32708.”
Sowore linked the transactions to Wike’s recent denial on Channels Television, where the minister claimed ignorance of his family’s ownership of the U.S. mansions.
“This explains why Wike boasted on Channels Television in a recent interview with Seun Okinbaloye that he “didn’t know” his wife and children owned mansions in the United States.
“But the international thief has now been caught in his own web of lies,” he added.

The activist also said that the minister had recently been battling health challenges.
Sowore stated, “By the way, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was due for follow-up treatment for a new ailment and chest infection that recently kept him in London for two weeks, which he was going to do under the guise of attending the UN General Assembly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but yesterday the VP, Kashim Shettima was asked to lead the delegation with 7 other ministers, Wike decided to bail out and several state governors have also been told to stay back for now.
“There is no hiding place anymore.”
Explaining Quit Claim Deeds
Sowore explained why corrupt politicians exploit Quit Claim Deeds in the U.S. real estate system.
He said, “A Quit Claim Deed is one of the simplest property transfer documents in U.S. real estate law.
“It allows one person, the grantor, to sign over whatever ownership interest they may have in a property to another person, the grantee.
“Crucially, it offers no guarantees that the grantor makes no promise that the title is valid, clear, or even legitimate. In short, it transfers “whatever interest” the grantor has, nothing more.
“Ordinarily, quit claim deeds are used for routine family transactions, a husband adding a wife to a title, parents transferring property to children, or heirs resolving paperwork after an inheritance.
“Because they bypass warranties and detailed title checks, they are cheap, quick, and often escape close scrutiny.
“But this simplicity is exactly why kleptocrats love them. Corrupt officials exploit “quit claim deeds” to launder stolen wealth.”
The activist further alleged that the Wike family’s use of the deeds fits into a broader pattern of hiding illicit wealth.
He said, “By transferring properties into the names of wives, children, or other relatives, they hide their true ownership.
“On paper, the transactions appear to be ordinary family planning. In reality, they are deliberate strategies to conceal the original source of illicit funds.
“No public sale, no market-value exchange, no visible money trail, just the quiet concealment of corruption beneath harmless looking paperwork.
“This is precisely what Wike has done. Properties in Florida, purchased with the proceeds of corruption, were quietly moved into the names of his wife, herself a senior judicial officer in Nigeria, and their children.
“The pattern is a textbook case of laundering stolen Nigerian wealth into U.S. real estate, using quit claim deeds as legal camouflage.”
According to Sowore, the transactions may attract serious consequences under U.S. law.
“Under the U.S. law, such transactions amount to money laundering and trafficking in stolen property, serious crimes punishable under both state and federal statutes,” Sowore said.
“They are also subject to asset seizure and forfeiture under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative.
“Wike’s Florida deeds are the very trail of corruption, the very evidence that US prosecutors need to unravel his kleptocracy and reclaim assets stolen from the people of Nigeria.”
In June, the Peoples Gazette started a series of reports, accusing Wike of abusing his office by allocating sprawling hectares of Abuja’s most valuable lands to his son, Joaquin Wike.
This was revealed in an exclusive report by the newspaper, which referenced inside sources and official documents backing this staggering abuse of power orchestrated by the FCT Minister.
The report revealed that Mr Wike, the immediate former Rivers State governor, since assuming office in August 2023, signed off on over 2,000 hectares of prime real estate to his son.
It revealed that to achieve this, the minister bypassed regulations and skipped payment of critical fees, contrary to the Nigerian Constitution and civil service ethics.
The Peoples Gazette stated that these allocations span some of Abuja’s most exclusive districts, including Maitama, Asokoro, Guzape, Bwari, and Gaduwa. This amounts to roughly 2,082 hectares or about 40,000 plots, with an estimated market value of $3.6 billion.
In July, the minister was also accused of allocating prime Abuja lands to his family members and friends.
According to documents cited by Peoples Gazette, Wike signed 33 approvals for land allocations to his family and friends, including his 90-year-old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, who received a plot of land in Guzape II worth N400 million.
The allocations, which were made on July 16, 2025, also included lands for Wike’s paternal cousin, Believe Wike; nephew, Victor Wike; nephew, Henry Wike; and cousin, Enwusonye Promise Wike. Other beneficiaries included eight family members of James Hunwo, who received individual allocations on the same day.
This is not the first time Wike has been accused of allocating lands to his family members. In April 2025, reports revealed that six of his family members, including his brothers and sisters, were allocated lands in Guzape II.
The beneficiaries were Vincent Ejike Wike, Chidi Sam Wike, Chituru Wike, Christian Ibebulachi Wike, Collins Ngeme Wike, and Emmanuel Okanwene Wike.
However, Wike denied the allegations.
Similarly, in August, fresh damning revelations exposed how Wike secretly acquired a $2 million mansion in Florida, and concealed ownership by registering the property in the names of his wife, Justice Eberechi Wike, and their three children, Joaquin, Jazmyne, and Jordan.
The documents, obtained by West Africa Weekly, also show that Justice Wike is a registered member of the U.S. Democratic Party, a status that places her in violation of Nigeria’s Judicial Code of Conduct, which prohibits judges from partisan political affiliations.
According to official U.S. public records, the Wike family quietly secured the property in March 2025.
The residence, located at 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, Florida 32708, is a two-storey mansion built in 1997 on a 4,076-square-foot lot. It features multiple bedrooms, a garage, and two dedicated parking spaces.
A source familiar with the deal, who spoke to West Africa Weekly on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Wike deliberately omitted his name from the purchase, using his wife’s and children’s identities to shield himself from scrutiny regarding asset declaration obligations and questions about the source of funds.
The West Africa Weekly report noted that with an official annual salary and allowances of about N7.8 million (roughly $5,000), there is no legitimate way for Wike to amass over $2 million for such a luxury acquisition without dipping into public resources.
Sowore recently petitioned the Office of the Attorney General of Florida, James Uthmeier, accusing Wike of laundering public funds to acquire properties in the United States.
He said the petition was sent to notify the authorities about “first-class felonies” involving the trafficking of illicit wealth into American real estate.
