The Association of Resident Doctors under the Federal Capital Territory Administration has suspended its indefinite strike, 30 days after the industrial action began.
President of ARD-FCTA, Dr George Ebong, confirmed the development on Monday, stating that the suspension followed the approval of the doctors’ demands by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The association, however, warned that it would resume the strike if the FCTA fails to implement the approved resolutions within the next four weeks.
ARD-FCTA comprises doctors working in 14 district and general hospitals, as well as the Department of Public Health under the FCTA.
The strike, which commenced on November 1, 2025, was called to demand improved working conditions, better welfare, and fair remuneration. The industrial action caused significant disruptions across health facilities in the FCT, resulting in delays in patient care and increased workload for remaining medical staff.
