Fayose speaks on ‘joining APC’

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed rumours suggesting that he plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Fayose clarified that his open support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election did not translate to joining the APC.

“The PDP’s problem did not start today. I am not a member of the APC and I will never be. I didn’t hide my support for Asiwaju; I consider him a leader in Nigeria and particularly from our zone,” Fayose said.

The former governor described Tinubu as a respected national leader, particularly from the South-West, but stressed that his loyalty to the PDP remains unwavering.

Fayose’s comments come amid a wave of defections from the PDP to the APC, with several high-profile members, including governors and lawmakers, recently crossing over to the ruling party.
