Senator Shehu Sani has mourned fellow pro-democracy activist, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who died aged 96 on Friday.
Daily Sun reported that Adebanjo died in his Lekki, Lagos home on Friday morning.
In a statement, his family said consultations were ongoing with other stakeholders to ensure a befitting funeral for the late Afenifere leader.
In an X post mourning the nonagenarian, Sani said Nigeria lost an indefatigable fighter for justice and equitable society.
According to him, Adebanjo lived a long and purposeful life.
“He was a marathoner in the pursuit of the cause of freedom and democracy.
“Pa Ayo was an exemplar of longevity with a cause, conscience and purpose.
“May his soul rest in peace,” the former Kaduna Central senator added.
