Ex-Presidential Aspirant, Investors Applaud Tinubu, Wike Over Abuja Smart City Mission



Prominent private sector leaders, including 2023 APC presidential aspirant Moses Ayom, have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for their steadfast drive to realize the Abuja Smart City Vision, calling it a game-changer for Nigeria’s capital.

Speaking at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Dubai, UAE, Wike outlined the FCT Administration’s focus on five pillars: urban mobility, sustainability, public safety, digital governance, and economic empowerment.

He highlighted key partnerships, including Smart Water Metering with Japan’s JICA, Intelligent Traffic Light Systems with Chinese investors, and flagship developments like Abuja City Walk and Abuja Industrial Park.

“These collaborations underscore our commitment to a technology-leveraged, inclusive city that enhances quality of life,” Wike told global urban leaders.

Ayom, CEO of Hongye Group and a member of the 2016 Presidential Trade Mission to China, praised the administration’s urban renewal strategy as a catalyst for Abuja’s socio-economic transformation.

“This bold plan will attract global investment, alleviate housing shortages, ease traffic, and advance Nigeria’s climate goals,” he told journalists in Abuja.

Ayom expressed optimism for his Ketti Green Smart City project along the Airport Road corridor, envisioning it as Africa’s largest eco-friendly metropolis rivaling Dubai and Shenzhen.Features include smart tech, renewable energy, a PGA-standard golf course, global hotels, and affordable mixed-use housing via public-private partnerships with Haitong, the Federal Housing Authority, and Abuja Investment Company Limited.

“When completed, Ketti will create jobs, draw tech firms, and slash housing costs,” Ayom said.He noted ongoing infrastructure in satellite towns, including the 10.5km Kabusa–Ketti and 9.8km Kabusa–Takushara Roads, slated for May 2026 completion under President Tinubu’s inclusive development directive.

Other investors, such as Havel Corporate Concept (ioSafe Nigeria affiliate), have unveiled supportive projects. 

CEO Dr. Ahmed Badanga commended the government’s resolve at a recent Abuja briefing.

The Asia Pacific Cities Summit, hosted by Brisbane City Council, facilitates cross-continental trade and urban innovation.

“With this synergy, Abuja is poised to set the standard for smart, green, and inclusive African cities,” Ayom concluded.
