A former All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council Director of election planning and management, and erstwhile board member representing South East in the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Dr. Theodore Ekechi, has lost his mother, Ezinne Lolo Beatrice Nwaogbo Ekechi, nee Onuoha at the age of 95.
In a statement by High Chief Theodore Ekechi on behalf of the family, described their late matriarch as a community leader , influencer who encouraged socio-economic self-reliance, unrelenting pursuit for both formal and informal education.
Ekechi, a former Commissioner for Information in Imo state, further described his late mother as a pathfinder, trailblazer and a woman whose exemplary life was a light that pointed the way forward for all in her immediate community.
He said, “Even at this age of 95, my family and I regret the passage of a dedicated, inspiring and exemplary mother who for 30 years defied a debilitating stroke condition to sustain the navigation and building of a family dynasty that thrives on integrity, contentment, hard work, the fear and love of God”.
According to the statement, the matriarch, a staunch catholic lived a life of fulfilment, and she is survived by six children, twenty-six grand-children and twenty-eight great-grand-children , including HRH Eze Augustine Uwadiegwu Ekechi, JP, Ijenwe II of Imerienwe, a retired accountant and civil servant
.
It further disclosed that the revered matriarch peacefully passed on recently in Owerri and will be buried according to Catholic rites and tradition on January 3rd, 2026 in the Ekechi’s Country home, Imerienwe, Ngor Okpala, LGA, Imo state.
