The leadership of Enugu State Students General Assembly Worldwide (ESSGA), has made a passionate appeal to the governor of Enugu state, Barrister Peter Ndubisi Mbah, to support the trip of one of its members, Miss Jacinta Chidibem Asadu, to Cambodia for Miss Teen IconIntetnational pageant competition.
Making the appeal on behalf of Miss Asadu, the President of ESSGA, Comrade Emmanuel Chisom Ogbonna, said the current Miss Teen ICONIGERIA queen needed N45million for her and her team to embark on the Cambodia trip coming up between May 18-May 26, 2025.
Ogbonna said that as a students union body, they had done all they could to sponsor Miss Asadu up to the winning of the Miss Teen ICONIGERIA pageant but now required financial support from the government and corporate organisations to make the Cambodia trip a success.
Thanking the governor for his commitment in the improvement of education in the state, especially, in building smart schools, Ogbonna urged the governor to come to their financial aid.
“We the students body are pleading for financial support to enable our member, Miss Asadu Jacinta Chidibem who won Miss Teen ICONIGERIA to be able to represent Nigeria at Miss Teen IconInternational pageant in Cambodia, come May, 2025.
“What we are asking for is financial support because the students body had already put in their effort to make sure that Miss Asadu got to this level but we no longer have the financial capacity to fund her trip to Cambodia.
“So, on this note, we are pleading with Governor Mbah and the state government to support her financially to embark on the Cambodia trip. We also plead with corporate organisations and good spirited individuals to come to our aid,” Comrade Ogbonna appeals.
On her part, Miss Asadu who had earlier won Miss UNN, said that participating in the forthcoming pageant would enable her to participate in more contests in future.
Asadu said that winning the Miss Teen IconInternational would make her break another record as as a teenager who went to a pageant and won like Chidinma Adesina as Miss Universe Nigeria.
She also said that winning the pageant would assist in her advocacy for body positivity and for cancer patients, particularly, for young girls and children.
“If I win, I intend to for more body positivity and for Cancer patients,” she said.
