Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has hit out at the club’s former coach, Maurizio Sarri, branding him as a ‘very standstill and superstitious manager.’
The former England international said this while questioning Sarri’s tactical style of football.
The 38-year-old claimed that the Italian gaffer did not play him during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Cahill endured a frustrating time under Sarri from July 2018 to June 2019.
He eventually left Stamford Bridge two months after Sarri.
“It was all tactical stuff (boring stuff, basically)? Yeah, what was Sarri ball then? I played there and I still don’t know what it is,” Cahill told former Chelsea midfielder John Obi-Mikel on the Obi One Podcast.
“He didn’t play me (laughs); he was a very standstill and superstitious manager.”
