Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola on Friday, said he expects Manchester United to “make a step forward” under new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Guardiola however insisted he is “not worried” about Ratcliffe’s comments that he wants to knock City “off their perch.”

Ratcliffe’s stake in the Red Devils was confirmed on Tuesday and the 71-year-old has been talking big since then.

But speaking to reporters on Friday, Guardiola said: “I think I am pretty sure with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the other people Manchester United are going to make a step forward.

“I had the feeling they know exactly what they have to do, appointing people they need. With his experience in the business world it can make the project better. But that is normal.

“All the teams want it [to be at the top] and we want to be there. As long as I am here we will try to be there again.”
