Engineer Reveals How He Designed Giant Pot For Hilda Baci’s Guinness Jollof Rice Feat

An engineer named Olalecks Tech has shared details on how he crafted the giant pot used by celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her Guinness World Record attempt in Lagos.

On August 24, 2025, Olalecks shared a series of TikTok videos detailing the journey of creating the pot, covering everything from the design stage to its full construction.

He demonstrated the construction and finishing of the pot, later testing it using six large industrial gas burners built to heat the six-meter vessel.

The videos also showed the custom-made pot being transported to the event location, Eko Hotels and Suites.

Baci revealed that the specially designed pot could hold 22,619 litres, with plans to fill it up to 80 percent of its capacity.

She stated that while 200 bags of rice were prepared for the record, the final weight reached only 4,000 kilograms due to restrictions on the scale.

“If you notice when we started, we weighed the pot and we need to weigh every single thing that goes into the pot when we’re done.

“The goal was that by the time I was done making 5,000 kilogrammes, I was hoping to achieve about 17,000 to 18,000 kilogrammes,” Hilda told Newsmem.

She noted that the 4,000 kilograms of rice cooked were sufficient to serve roughly 20,000 people.

The event took a dramatic twist when the massive pot collapsed during hoisting for weighing, but fortunately, no one was injured.
