The funeral of Mrs Ruth Bola Achor, mother of Super Eagles Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor, took place on Saturday in Ilorin, Kwara state.

The funeral service was held at the UMCA, Ilorin, and was followed by a private interment.

The ceremony was attended by top dignitaries, football aficinados, and sports stakeholders from across the country.

The day started with a funeral service at UMCA Church, Ilorin, where family members and colleagues offered prayers and paid tributes to the 75-year-old matriarch.

The Officiating Minister Dr. Ebenezer Kayode-provost eulogised the matriarch and urged congregants to emulate Mama’s legacy of faith, dedication and passion for the work of God.

A delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Mallam Ibrahim Musa Gusau, later joined mourners at the reception held at the Atlantic Event Centre. Gusau praised the late Mrs. Achor for raising “a son whose loyalty and dedication have become invaluable to Nigerian football.”

Former National Sports Commission Director General, Dr. Amos Adamu, who is a sibling of the late matriarch was also in attendance likewise Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba former NFF secretary general, Super Eagles backroom staff led by Patrick Pascal [MON], Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, Dr. Robinson Okosun and a host of others gathered at the memorable occasion.

Football officials, ex-players, club administrators and representatives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) were also present, highlighting the strong support for Enebi within the football community.

Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Musa Thuraya, said the turnout reflected the impact of the family and the values instilled by the deceased.

“Mrs. Achor lived a life of purpose,” he said. “Her influence is evident in Mr. Enebi’s professionalism and service. We stand with the family and pray for God’s strength.”

Friends and associates described her as kind, disciplined and committed to raising her children on sound moral foundations.

“It was a celebration of Mama’s impactful life and legacy. Our prayer is that God will continue to grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss and comfort them.” Richard Jideaka who led SWAN delegation from Abuja said.

Mrs. Ruth Bola Achor has since been laid to rest in Ilorin. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and many whose lives she touched.
