The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) has initiated the process of regularising 19 newly approved layouts in the state as part of the state government’s strategy to tackle the challenges posed by the encroachment of government lands.

The approved layouts slated for regularisation include NITR (U/Rimi), NAFDAC (Narayi), Chanchangi (Sabon Tasha), Oil Village (Mahuta), Danbushiya, Sabon Gida, Gidan Daji and Danhonu1, all located in Millennium City.

Others are Unguwan Maigero phase1 (Kamozou), Stellon (Sabon Tasha), NITEL (Television), Babban Saura (Kamazou), Chanchangi (Kinkinau), Maigero 2 (Kamazou), Buwaya (Gonin Gora), Gbagyi Villa, Tsohon kamazou, Kamazou, and Sterling (Mando).

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement programme for communities on the approved layouts, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Shagali, said the regularisation process involved providing essential infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, markets, electricity and water to meet the needs of the areas.

The Director General of KASUPDA, Malam Isma’il Umaru Dikko, urged residents to comply with government policies and initiatives.

The Head of the Regularisation Unit at KASUPDA, Nasir Bello, said the agency had proposed revised penalty rates of N100,000 and N150,000 for residential bungalows and duplexes respectively.
