The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has felicitated Hon. Joseph Ikpea and Barr. Omosede Igbinedion on their victories in the Saturday by-elections.

In a statement issued through his Media Officer, Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele described their victories as a resounding affirmation of the people’s will and trust.

“The people have eloquently spoken,” Enabulele declared. “Your pedigree and proven track records were the hallmarks of these well-deserved victories.”

He expressed confidence in their capacity to deliver effective representation, urging them to remain steadfast in advancing the interests of their constituents.

“I believe you will not fail us,” Enabulele said. “We expect you to sponsor and support legislation that adds value to the lives of your constituents and attracts the dividends of good governance to your senatorial district and federal constituency.”

Highlighting the symbolic weight of their new mandates, Enabulele noted that both leaders are stepping into positions previously occupied by high-performing politicians.

“Hon. Joseph Ikpea succeeds His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, now our Executive Governor, while Barr. Omosede Igbinedion replaces Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, our current Deputy Governor. These are big shoes to fill, requiring resilience, commitment, and determination,” he stated.

Enabulele further urged them to build on the legacy of their predecessors and strive to surpass expectations through transformative leadership.

He also commended Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa for their unwavering support during the electioneering process.

“Their victories reflect the Governor’s passion for identifying and backing tested and trusted individuals who can help drive the SHINE Agenda for Edo State,” he added.

Both Ikpea and Igbinedion contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Hon. Ikpea clinched the Edo Central Senatorial seat with a commanding 105,129 votes, defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 15,146 votes. Similarly, Barr. Igbinedion emerged winner of the Ovia Federal Constituency seat with 77,053 votes, while her PDP opponent garnered 3,838 votes.
