5 days ago 23

KATSINA – The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, has charged journalists to abide by the ethics of their profession to ensure the progress and development of the state and Nigeria.

The Emir gave the charge when he hosted members of Correspondents’ Chapel led by the vice chairman, Tijjani Ahmed, at his palace in Daura on Tuesday.

He noted that the tasks before the media practitioners should not be seen as a mere child’s play but meant to unite the state and country to make desired progress that would benefit all.

He warned that the destiny of the country lies in their hands, noting that the leadership of the country is in the hands of three categories of people, the politicians, the traditional rulers and youths.

The Emir added that both the governments and the ordinary people rely on the media to report issues objectively without sentiments.

“It is through the reportage of the media that the country can be built or destroyed. Journalists are not ordinary people, they have a very important role to play when it comes to dictating the destiny of a nation”.

He said your reportage can either lead you to hell or paradise, cautioning that, rather than involving in the destruction of the nation, you should uplift the state and the country to improve its image in the eyes of the world.

The Emir thanked the members of the fourth estate of the realm for the visit, saying that he counts on their support for a united Nigeria.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim Jargaba, represented by his vice, Tijjani Ibrahim, said the visit was meant to appraise the efforts of the royal father for his unwavering contributions to the emirate, the state and the country at large.
