BusinessDay, gathered that the emergency session was summoned solely to address the leadership vacuum created by the resignation of Aondona Dajoh, the former Speaker who resigned on Sunday.

BusinessDay gathered that  the Benue State House of Assembly crises started last Friday when lawmaker representing Makurdi North, Alfred Berger; his Kian state constituency counterpart, Terna Shimawua; Cyril Ekong of Obi state constituency, and James Umoru, representing Apa state constituency were suspended for six months.

But in a twist on Sunday, Dajoh, in his resignation letter,  appreciated his colleagues for giving him the opportunity “to be the first among equals.”

He also pledged to remain committed to his duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency.

This, according to the House, followed an attempt to impeach the Speaker, Aondona Dajoh, the previous night.

It will be recalled that Saater Tiseer, the Majority Leader, had in the motion of urgent importance, moved for the suspension of the four lawmakers for attempting to unsettle the state assembly with what he said was a needless crisis.
