Elders Laud Governor’s Rural Infrastructure, Human Capital Devt

The Ebonyi Council of Elders has commended Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi for prioritising rural infrastructure, and human capital development in the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Chairman of the Council, Chief Benjamin Okah, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Friday.

Okah said that the Governor’s mantra, “People’s Charter of Needs” is a welcome development to residents, as it impact positively on all aspects of life in the state.

The chairman said that rural infrastructure and human development, especially in education, health and agriculture were pertinent to socio-economic growth of any state.

“Communities in the state are being connected through road network. The Governor awarded two kilometre roads projects to various communities. Some are already completed, while some are still ongoing.

“You know with the road network, farmers in the rural communities can easily access their farms and transport their crops to the urban areas,” he said.

He said that the Governor is committed to the provision of  dividends of democracy to the entire residents of the state.

“The Economic Advisory Committee” is created to assist the state government to design and implement policies that will benefit the people and to bring the state resources to the fore.

“In area of agriculture and improving economy, Ebonyi has been on the rise in mining it’s mineral resources. I commended the Governor’s move to revive the Nigercem.

“Our state is blessed with a lot of natural resources. Apart from limestone, we have lead, salt, zinc among others.

“There is a policy to develop educational skill based on vocational study and the Economic  committee is working closely with the Governor for better implementation,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
