Hugo Ekitike found the net against his former club as Liverpool ended their poor run of form, overturning an early deficit to crush Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 in the Champions League.
Liverpool, who started the season with seven straight wins, had stumbled into a worrying slump with four consecutive defeats, including one to Manchester United.
That downward trend looked set to continue when former Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen fired Frankfurt ahead.
Ekitike inspires first-half comeback
Arne Slot’s men responded decisively. Ekitike, partnering Alexander Isak for the first time, levelled ten minutes before the break after sprinting onto Andy Robertson’s pinpoint long ball and calmly slotting home.

Virgil van Dijk then powered in a header from a corner to make it 2-1, before Ibrahima Konaté extended the lead with another headed goal just before half-time.
Injury blow fails to derail dominance
Isak was substituted at halftime with a groin issue, but Liverpool maintained control. Cody Gakpo struck his fourth goal of the season following a precise Florian Wirtz assist, while Dominik Szoboszlai’s thunderous long-range effort wrapped up a commanding performance, with Wirtz again setting up the goal.
Frankfurt outclassed at home
Frankfurt, who finished third in the Bundesliga last season, entered the tie with inconsistent form after back-to-back home defeats.
Their opener came from a swift counter-attack, but they were soon overwhelmed by Liverpool.
Reds look ahead to Premier League test
The result halts Liverpool’s losing streak and injects confidence ahead of their Premier League fixture against Brentford on Saturday, October 25.
Frankfurt will seek to recover when they host St. Pauli in the Bundesliga on the same day.
