Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji deserves second term

From Priscilla Ediare, Ado-Ekiti

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Segun Ajibulu, has urged the people of the state to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji to continue in office beyond 2026.

According to Ajibulu, Governor Oyebanji has performed remarkably well in almost three years in office, hence deserves another term to continue the good works.

Ajibulu made the remarks during the Ekiti Parapo North Carolina anniversary in the United States of America (USA), where he also admonished Ekiti people in the diaspora to disregard an alleged social media hate campaign against the governor.

The former APC senatorial aspirant for Ekiti North said, being a stakeholder in Ekiti politics, he was in the best position to give first-hand information about the happenings in the state.

Reeling out some of the governor’s achievements, the chieftain said Oyebanji displayed exemplary leadership qualities by uniting all political tendencies in the state.

He also said that the current administration has been committed to infrastructural development, transparent in its dealings, and prioritised the welfare of workers and the citizens of the state.

“It won’t be fair if I fail to talk about happenings in our dear state. I live in Ekiti whenever I am in Nigeria. Governor Oyebanji has performed remarkably well in Ekiti. Through his exemplary leadership qualities, he was able to unite the political tendencies in the state.”

Continuing, he commented on the deplorable condition of the federal roads in the state and condemned the recent social media remarks about the roads in the state.

“We can’t just rely on the incorrect information on the social media about our governor. I am here to tell you, as a stakeholder in Ekiti politics, that our governor is performing.

“Most of the issues raised about roads are incorrect. The majority of the roads being talked about are federal roads, and they are getting attention from the federal government, and as I am talking to you, I am glad to inform you that work is in progress on Ado-Aramoko and Itawure roads, ditto Ado-Akure road.

“It will interest you to know that Ado-Ifaki road, a federal road, which had been under construction for years, has been completed by Governor Oyebanji, but the Governor decided not to make noise about it.”

He added, as part of efforts to boost the state’s agriculture sector, the Oyebanji-led administration cleared several hectares of land to ease farming activities in the state.

“Through the efforts of the Governor Oyebanji administration, Ekiti is now playing host to the biggest cassava farm in Nigeria (Agbeyewa Farms).

“Ekiti has been enjoying peace since Oyebanji assumed office as governor. No wonder all the former governors in the state have endorsed him for a second term. Peace is paramount in any society as there cannot be any development without peace.”
