The two Nigerian attackers were in action for Sevilla as they thrashed Barcelona at the Ramos Sanchez Pizjuan…

Nigerian attackers Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke had an afternoon to remember as they were involved in a goal for Sevilla in their 4-1 thrashing of Barcelona at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Last week, Adams scored the winning goal for Los Nervioneses in their 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

But despite his goal, coach Matias Almeyda did not give him a starting shirt when they welcome La Liga champions Barcelona to Seville.

Ejuke, who had injury issues earlier in the campaign, also started from the bench.

Sevilla had a dream start, with Alexis Sanchez giving them the lead from the penalty spot after just 13 minutes. Then, Isaac Romero added one more in the 36th minute.

It looked like Barcelona would stage one of their popular comebacks after Marcus Rashford pulled one back in stoppage time of the first half. But Los Nervioneses held on to their lead.

Robert Lewandowski could have drawn level for the Spanish kings in the 76th minute, but he dragged his penalty kick wide.

While Barcelona were pushing for goals, they left spaces at the back. Jose Angel Carmona exploited one of these spaces, as he made it 3-1 in the 90th minute.

Nigerian striker Akor Adams was introduced into the game in the 61st minute, while Ejuke was subbed on in the third minute of stoppages.

Both players eventually combined for Sevilla’s fourth goal of the game in the 96th minute through a quick counter.

Ejuke received a pass from Sevilla’s half and dragged the ball to the final third, where he then squared the ball to Adams, who was running free in the box.

The Nigerian striker latched onto the ball and finished with aplomb to put the icing on the cake and ensure the game ended 4-1.

After Barcelona Heroics, Can Akor Adams Deliver For Super Eagles?

After his goal for Barcelona, Akor Adams’ next stop is the Super Eagles camp for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.

He got his maiden invite last week, and he will be looking to make a lasting impression on coach Eric Chelle.

For him to get minutes, he will have to displace the already established strikers like Victor Osimhen, Terem Moffi, and Tolu Arokodare.
