The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a detailed statement addressing the circumstances surrounding the death of Endurance Udeke, a resident of Apartment W6a, Periwinkle Estate, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
On November 4, 2025, EFCC operatives conducted a targeted sting operation at the estate, resulting in the arrest of four suspected internet fraudsters across multiple apartments.
According to EFCC statement, the operation proceeded without incident until Udeke and another resident of his apartment, upon becoming aware of the raid, attempted to flee by jumping from the four-storey building.
Udeke succumbed to his injuries despite immediate medical intervention. His companion survived after receiving emergency treatment and stabilization at a hospital.
The EFCC confirmed it promptly notified Udeke’s family, providing full details of the incident.
The family expressed gratitude for the efforts made to save his life.The Commission emphasized that there was no physical contact between its operatives and Udeke prior to the fatal jump, describing his actions as a desperate and tragic attempt to evade arrest.
The matter has been formally reported to the Nigeria Police Force, which has launched an investigation.
The EFCC urged the public to cooperate with lawful operations, stating that individuals with nothing to hide have no cause for fear during such exercises.
