The Acting Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamoh, Prof. Dawood Egbefo has pledged the institution’s commitment to partner with the state government to continue to provide world-class teaching and research facilities in the University.
The Acting Vice Chancellor made the pledge at the University’s 10th matriculation ceremony, where no fewer than 1,528 students matriculated for the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to Prof. Egbefo, Edo state University, Iyamho, is one of the Universities that possess cutting-edge technological resources and ICT facilities which are readily available for teaching and learning.
“The management of the University, is therefore committed to partnering with the State Government to continue to provide world-class teaching and research facilities in the institution for it to continue to maintain its high standard.
Congratulating the newly admitted students, Prof Egbefo stated that the matriculants were admitted through UTME, Direct Entry and Transfer from other institutions.
“Today we celebrate the matriculation of 1,528 candidates (UTME, Direct entry and Transfer) who have met the criteria for admission and successfully completed the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“As you join the university as the 10th batch of matriculating students, I encourage you to uphold the University’s regulations and contribute positively to the Edo University version community,” Egbefo said.
The Acting VC also urged the new students to approach their academic journey with unwavering dedication and take full advantage of the cutting-edge technological resources and ICT facilities available in the institution.
The institution, Egbefo said, has zero tolerance for social vices and advised the students to shun all forms of vices that could be inimical to the progress of their academic pursuit.
“Here, we place a high premium on discipline and adherence to the academic calendar as the university runs an uninterrupted season”, he declared.
Speaking as a guest speaker, Prof. Omare Celia Otote in her lecture, advised the newly admitted students to be disciplined and resilient in their study to achieve their academic goals.
Prof Otote, a professor in the Faculty of Education, Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, delivered the matriculation lecture tiled “Building a Legacy of Excellence: Embracing Opportunities for Academic Growth.
Prof Otote also advised the students to set out goals for themselves throughout their academic journey in order to achieve excellence.
She reminded the students that excellence is about continuous growth, meaningful contributions, and inspiring others, adding that excellence is a journey and not a destination, urging them to be focused, ask questions and be self disciplined.
“As you find yourselves in the university community, you should reflect on what kind of legacy you want to build for yourselves so that you can start taking action today”, she added.
