The leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in Edo state, has disowned the caretaker committee said to have been constituted by the national president of NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero.
The union advised the general public to disregard and not give any form of legality to the 5 -man caretaker committee constituted by Joe Ajaero and the former Edo NLC chairman, Comrade Odion Olaye.
It alleged that Ajaero’s personal move to impose connived contraption has further sparked controversies, adding, “Edo workers have been enjoying a very peaceful and friendly labour relations since Olaye was removed by majority members of the affiliate unions and replaced with the Comrade Bernard Joman Egwakhide -led executive.”
The Edo NLC leadership made this known in a statement signed its chairman, Comrade Bernard Joman Egwakhide and assistant secretary, Comrade Omole Osahon Monday.
The statement noted, “The so called caretaker committee is orchestrated by Chief Olaye, who once threatened that “Edo will burn” if a particular politician does not win an election in Edo state. We will not allow him to continue to lead Edo NLC council by proxy,
“We do not only reject the committee purportedly set up by Ajaero and Olaye, we also view the caretaker committee as an attempt to undermine the state’s stability.
“It is on record that the United Labour Congress (ULC) that was used to castrate the NLC at a time, was a baby of Comrade Ajaero. His action is again tending towards same in Edo state.”
