'Together, We Are Unstoppable' - Okpebholo Says After Shettima's Visit

The Edo governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monday Okpebholo, has said the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other dignitaries of the party at his campaign rally on Saturday showed the party cannot be stopped ahead of the September 21 election.

Okpebholo, at the campaign ground on Saturday at the University of Benin Sports Complex, promised to implement loans for farmers and employ 5,000 teachers in his first 100 days in office.

“We will give loans to our farmers through cooperatives; we will also give soft loans to market women. We will employ over 5,000 teachers within my first 100 days in office. We will build health centers across the 192 wards in Edo and we will declare a state of emergency on education,” the APC candidate said.

On his X handle on Sunday, he thanked the party’s Vice president and other dignitaries for their support of him on Saturday.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made yesterday’s closing rally a resounding success! Special gratitude to His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and to The Distinguished Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

“I also deeply appreciate the presence of the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, Their Excellencies the APC Governors, and all our esteemed party leaders. Your support has been instrumental in energizing this movement for a New Edo!

“Thank you to all our party members and supporters who have stood by us throughout this journey. Together, we are unstoppable!” Okpebholo stated.

On Saturday, at the campaign ground, the former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, stated that the future of Edo State was compromised by Governor Godwin Obaseki‘s administration.

He claimed that the state’s education sector was neglected by the Obaseki’s government. Oshiomhole added that Edo State did not benefit from the Universal Basic Education Commission’s funds because the state has no State Universal Basic Education Board.

Governance is about development; our roads and other infrastructure are dilapidated. Education has suffered a lot. Because the state does not have a State Universal Basic Education Board yet, the Governor has been benefiting from the Universal Basic Education Commission’s funds.

“Our future has been compromised by Obaseki. People of my age and the younger ones have not forgotten what is called “plan well,” a savings scheme championed by the Asue, which defrauded the people,” the former APC National Chairman said.
