The Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Hadja Mémounatou Ibrahima, has applauded the productive deliberations of both the session and the accompanying parliamentary seminar on artificial intelligence.
She gave the commendation on Saturday, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in her closing address of the 2025 second extraordinary session of the ECOWAS parliament.
She highlighted two principal achievements: the conclusions of the seminar on artificial intelligence, which establish the foundation for an ethical and responsible framework for its adoption in Africa, and the adoption of the draft 2026 budget for the ECOWAS Parliament, characterized as a catalyst for the community Parliament’s priority mandates.
Speaker Ibrahima expressed her gratitude to the Nigerian authorities, Members of Parliament, and all contributors to the session’s success.
She concluded by expressing hope that these outcomes will inspire an innovative and forward-looking institution, dedicated to serving the people and advancing regional integration in line with the ECOWAS Vision 2050.
