August 20th marked a memorable day for members of Ebute Metta Railway Compound Lions Club, under the Association of Lions International, District 404B4 Nigeria as they celebrated their monthly activity themed : Sensitization Programme On Dangers of Drug Abuse.
The event which took place at Oyingbo under bridge was witnessed by members of Ebute Metta Railway Compound Lions Club and the community at large.
Speaking at the event, Charter president of Ebute Metta Railway Compound Lions Club, Lion Dr. Micheal Abiodun Adeyanju talked about the event, he also appreciated
everyone who made it a success, “I want to thank God for the success of the program,
along side members of Ebute Metta Railway Compound Lions Club for
making this event successful, every participants are also appreciated.’
“During the event, we had a community outreach on drug abuse, where we spoke to youths, commercial drivers and traders in the environment about the dangers of
drug abuse, the use of hard drugs and the negative effect it has on the individual and
community at large. After the lecture, we had a question and answer session during
which the participants asked variable questions, we explain and gave them good
answers.”
“We look forward to having more programs and projects from Ebute Metta Railway Compound Lions Club, in future, we hope to carry events such as this on a larger scale to reach out to more people so as for them to benefit from our projects.”
In conclusion,the charter president used the occasion to invite members of the public to their fundraising event taking place in December, ” I will like to use this medium to invite everyone to our fundraising ceremony. The fundraising is for future projects that we will embark on to help humanity. This program will take place on the 6th of December at Federal Medical Center, Ebute Metta, Lagos. God keep us till then,” he concluded.

Vice President of the Club, Lion Dr Lola Bello spoke briefly on the awareness of the campaign against drug abuse, “its good we let people know the dangers of drug abuse and what it involves. In the campaign we had a road walk with banners stating various dangers of drug abuse and we also distributed some cars stickers to the commercial drivers to paste on their vehicles and tricycles, spreading the word about the dangers of drug abuse far beyond the community. Everyone involved was very supportive and for this, i say thank you. The program was a successful one and i am sure everyone enjoyed it by learning a thing or two about the dangers of drug abuse.”

Lion leaders present at the event included Lion Tak Oloyede, Lion Pharm Stephen Onojomete, amongst others.
