Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved the appointment of Prof. Michael Ugota Awoke as the new Vice Chancellor of the State University (EBSU).
The appointment followed the recommendations of the Governing Council of the University.
Awoke is a Professor of Agricultural Economics and Former Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, of the State University.
Also appointed are Prof. Ike Elechi Ogba as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, and Prof. Michael Ajanwachukwu as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration.
Others appointed include Mrs. Ugochinyere Mba Uka, Registrar; Mrs. Roseline Nwuzor, Bursar; and Mrs. Victoria Nwali, Librarian.
The Governor, who announced the appointments shortly after a church service at the Government House Chapel, said the newly appointed principal officers would be sworn in on Tuesday, 11th February 2025.
The Governor also recalled four commissioners and the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, who were suspended last November.
They are: Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma; Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Chinedum Nkah; Commissioner for Housing, Engr. Francis Ori; and Commissioner for Local Government, Hon. Uchenna Igwe.
On the recent killings at Amegu Nkalaha Community, the Governor disclosed that the preliminary investigation by security agencies showed the dastardly act was perpetrated by some criminal elements from the community and not herdsmen, as was alleged earlier, describing it as unfortunate.
He warned contractors handling government projects to ensure speedy execution or face the wrath of the government.
