The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of two former operatives, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were dismissed from the agency but continued posing as active officers to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
According to The PUNCH, the DSS in a statement issued on Wednesday, announced that the two former officers—earlier declared wanted in separate public notices—have been captured and will soon face prosecution in court.
“The Department of State Services recently issued disclaimers on two dismissed personnel, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were impersonating the Service to commit fraud. The public is hereby informed that the duo has been arrested and will face prosecution in line with the law,” the statement read.

The arrests follow a series of public warnings issued by the DSS this month. On October 13, the Service alerted Nigerians about Victor Onyedikachi Godwin’s fraudulent activities, while on October 8, a similar warning was issued regarding Barry Donald, who was also accused of impersonation.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the DSS said it will soon release a list of previously dismissed officers to help citizens identify potential impostors and avoid being scammed.
“The Service has resolved to publish the names of other dismissed personnel to protect Nigerians from criminal elements posing as DSS operatives,” it added.
The DSS urged members of the public to confirm any official dealings through its verified channels and report suspicious individuals claiming to represent the agency.
