FG Sets Aside N5.7B For Funtua Varsity Take-Off

KATSINA: The Federal Government has set aside the sum of N5.7 billion in the 2025 appropriation bill to ensure the smooth take off of the new Federal University of Health Sciences, Funtua, Katsina state.

Senator Muntari Dandutse, the Senator representing Katsina South Senatorial district disclosed this while briefing newsmen on his one year achievements in the Red chamber in Katsina.

Dandutse who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, revealed that, a grant of N5 billion has been allocated to the institution, this is apart from the N2.9 billion for normal intervention.

He applauded the state Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda for his magnanimity to expend N3 billion on the health sciences university towards making it ever ready to commence academic activities this year.

The Federal Lawmaker added that, already the Federal government has appointed the Vice Chancellor and the Governing Council of the newly established university.

According to him, the university’s management are presently concluding the process of employing other supporting staff of the institution for the take off of academic activities in September, this year.

Said he, “the university will serve as a catalyst for the educational development in the North-West region and admit students from states within the zone and other neighbouring states”.

Towards transforming learning environment of higher institutions in the country, Senator Muntari Dandutse said the Federal Government plans to establish independent solar power projects to provide needed electricity supply.

Dandutse further revealed that government is planning to establish JAMB CBT centres in all the remaining eight local governments under the constituency to ease the unfortunate movement of the candidates from one point to the other across the zone.

This he said will reduce the hardship being faced by the candidates and enable them to sit for their examinations with ease.
