In a shocking turn of events, Jigawa state governor, Umar Namadi, has announced plan to investigate the claims of achievements made by his Commissioner for Health and Social Development, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa.
The investigation will also include the director-general of the state Youths Employment Agency, Dr. Habib Kanya.
The development comes weekend, during a public engagement program organised by the state government when the two official’s claims were vehemently disputed by the public.
The drama unfolded at the “Citizens Engagement Programme” held at the Birninkudu Township Stadium in Birninkudu local government area, where the Commissioner for Health, Kainuwa’s presentation was met with a chorus of disapproval.
The audience loudly disputed his claims of projects executed in the local government, forcing him to abandon his speech and start defending himself before the dignitaries, including the governor and Minister of Defence.
Similarly, director-general, Mr. Kanya, also faced a barrage of skepticism when he attempted to tout his agency’s achievements and his claims were questioned by the people.
In response to public’s outcry, Governor Namadi assured the people that his administration would get to the bottom of the matter.
He promised to institute a probe to uncover the truth behind the disputed claims, stating that his administration’s priority is to ensure transparency and accountability.
He said the probe is expected to shed light on the accuracy of the commissioner’s and agency head’s claims, to provide a clear picture of the state’s development progress.
The governor also highlighted his administration’s commitment to executing projects that align with the Jigawa citizens’ online 12-point agenda.
Namadi added that the move demonstrates his dedication to serving the people and addressing their concerns.
