
The Democratic Republic of Congo has declared a new outbreak of the Ebola virus, with over 20 suspected cases recorded.
According to the country’s health ministry, samples tested on September 3, 2025, confirmed the presence of the of the virus.
According to the ministry, the index case was a 34-year-old pregnant woman admitted on August 20 with symptoms including fever, diarrhea and vomiting.
This marks the country’s 16th Ebola outbreak since the disease was identified in 1976.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has deployed a national rapid response team, aimed at combating the outbreak.
