Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has appealed to fans not to compare Red Devil goalkeeper Senne Lammens with Peter Schmeichel.

He made this known ahead of the team’s Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.

With fans already comparing the debutant to United legend Peter Schmeichel, Amorim has urged caution over early comparisons between him and Schmeichel, insisting the young Belgian still has much to prove.

“He’s not Schmeichel yet,” Amorim told club website.

“He’s a young guy with talent. He showed a lot of composure, and the fans liked it. But again, that is in the past; we need to prove in the next game.”

United currently sit 10th in the PL, having lost three of their opening seven games, and are still recovering from last season’s 15th-place finish, their worst in 51 years, and a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
