“Don’t Trample On His Rights” – Speed Darlington’s Lawyer Speaks On Client’s Arrest

1 month ago 30

Stan Alieke, Speed Darlington’s legal representative, has criticized the Nigerian police for the rapper’s prolonged detention.

Darlington’s arrest was announced by human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju on November 27 after he was apprehended while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State.

Adeyanju alleged that Burna Boy, the Afrofusion star, was behind the rapper’s re-arrest.

He accused Burna Boy of using the police to oppress Darlington while portraying himself as a human rights advocate.

In an Instastory post on Tuesday, Alieke disclosed that seven days after Darlington’s arrest, the police have refused to grant him bail.

The lawyer also urged law enforcement officers not to “trample on my client’s constitutional rights.”

“Today makes it exactly one week since my client, Mr Darlington Achakpo PKA Speed Darlington was re-arrested and detained by the @nigeriapoliceforce and he’s been in their custody ever since,” he wrote.

“The police should not trample on his constitutional right while trying to enforce another person’s right. He’s entitled to bail and should be granted same.”
