I Will Let Governance Take Backseat For Politics – ObasekiObaseki

Outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has advised incoming Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo to prioritize security above politics, emphasizing that neglecting security will lead to problems.

Obaseki shared these words of wisdom during a security meeting with state security agency heads in Benin.

“My advice to the incoming administration is to take security seriously and never prioritize politics over security because there will be problems as citizens need to demand a secure environment,” Obaseki stated.

He attributed his administration’s success in improving security to collaboration with security agencies, noting that together, they changed the narrative about security in the state.

Obaseki highlighted his administration’s achievements, saying, “In the last eight years, my administration has prioritized security and invested hugely in the state’s security architecture, transforming the state into one of Nigeria’s safest states to live in and do business.”

He also credited the secure environment for the state’s domestic growth and attractiveness to investors.

The outgoing governor expressed gratitude to security agencies for their cooperation, which has made the state safe for all.

Obaseki’s administration leveraged technology to enhance security, documenting incidents, reviewing them, and responding effectively.

In a call to action, Obaseki emphasized the need for collective participation in nation-building, stating, “No one can fix Nigeria but us.”
