
The speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has denied stories making the rounds that she has resigned.
Reacting, the chief press secretary to the speaker, Segun Ajiboye, debunked the rumour, Wednesday.
“I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” Ajiboye said.
An online medium reported that Meranda has resigned her position.
A circular dated February 17, 2025, allegedly released by Meranda had also been trending for two days, with the content claiming she had resigned.
The resignation letter circulating on social media wasn’t signed by anyone.
The Lagos assembly had been engrossed in crisis since January 13,2025 when the former speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, was removed by majority of the lawmakers.
Obasa who was in America when he was removed insisted he still remains the speaker of the House because he was not properly removed as the speaker of the House.
