The Association of Arewa Yoruba Youths (AAYY) has described the passing of Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark as the end of an era in Nigeria’s struggle for equity, justice, and true federalism.

In a statement, AAYY National Coordinator, Ambassador Lawal Hussein Taiye, said the elder statesmen were relentless advocates for a just and progressive Nigeria, adding that their voices for fairness and inclusiveness would be deeply missed.

“Their demise marks the end of an era in Nigeria’s struggle for equity, justice, and true federalism. Their voices, which consistently stood for fairness and inclusiveness, will be greatly missed,” he said.

He noted that Nigerians must draw lessons from their exemplary lives, adding that their contributions should be documented and passed on to younger generations.

According to him, Adebanjo and Clark were towering figures in Nigerian politics who left an indelible mark on the country’s democratic journey. He said their unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and peaceful coexistence would continue to inspire future generations.

Hussein described the elder statesmen as bridges that connected Nigerians to the foundational struggles of the nation’s democracy, noting that their voices remained resolute and principled until their last days.

He commended their extensive contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development, stressing that they remained steadfast in ensuring that the dividends of democracy were enjoyed by all Nigerians.

“Their near-simultaneous departure leaves a great void in the collective struggle for justice and equity in Nigeria. Their leadership, wisdom, and relentless pursuit of fairness will be sorely missed,” he added.
