The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspected fraudsters and syndicate robbers who allegedly specialise in defrauding and robbing unsuspecting victims of their valuable possessions.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrests were made following credible intelligence. In a statement issued on Saturday in Asaba, the state capital, he revealed that operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team carried out the operation between August 11 and 16, 2025.
Edafe stated, “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team between August 11 and 16, 2025, arrested a syndicate of robbers/fraudsters who specialise in robbing and defrauding unsuspecting victims of their valuable items such as phones, motorcycles, jewellery, and looting of their victims’ bank accounts.

“The suspects act in the guise of looking for directions and then hypnotise their victims before extorting and defrauding them.”
The arrested suspects include Ibrukoko, 32; Obruche Actor, 31; Umukoro, 28; Emmanuel Buruutu, 22; Musa Abdulahi, 27; Sokoh, 30; Preye Julius, 36; and Kadija Abass, 30.
Edafe further disclosed that the syndicate operated across Warri, Ughelli, and other areas in Delta State, as well as Edo State. Items recovered from the suspects include two Toyota Camrys with registration numbers LND-809-HE and KSF-61-JU, and 16 suspected stolen iPhones.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects have so far defrauded their victims of over N23 million, stolen about 42 iPhones, lady bikes, and defrauded 12 female victims,” Edafe added.
In a separate operation, the Delta State Police also arrested five individuals for stealing ladders in the Ekpan area. According to Edafe, the DPO Ekpan Police received multiple complaints from residents about missing ladders, which were allegedly stolen by people posing as customers.
He explained, “On August 22, 2025, the DPO detailed operatives who embarked on an intelligence-led investigation and arrested one Esquire Stanley, who claimed he sold the ladders at N25,000.”
The investigation further led to the arrest of other receivers, including Chinedu Okorie, Orgi Abara, Philip Augustine, and Obone Jevweu. In total, 11 suspected stolen ladders were recovered during the operation.
