Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms, a victim’s car, and vehicles used in their operations.
Naija News reports in a statement signed by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the arrests followed separate intelligence-led operations by the command in September 2025.
On 12th September, officers led by the DPO of Ekpan, CSP Labe Joseph, detained two men, Elvis Ebroghro, 36, and Abiola Adegore, 34, both from Ometan. Investigations revealed that on 11th September, the suspects attempted to steal a vehicle battery from a local community.
A security guard confronted them, and they allegedly threatened his life.
Following a confession from Ebroghro, police intensified operations and arrested another key suspect, Lucky Ebroghro.
During the search, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle hidden in a building linked to the syndicate. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
In a separate case, on 8th September around 1:30 a.m., the command received a report of a young man kidnapped from his home in Ogwashi-Uku.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of two million naira and injured the victim when the full amount was not available.
Special anti-kidnapping and cyber squad officers, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, tracked the suspects to a bush in Ogwashi-Uku and rescued the victim.
Following intelligence gathering, officers arrested Chukwuebuka Nka, 25, from Enugu State, and Uche Okechukwu from Imo State, recovering the victim’s white Venza SUV.
The suspects revealed the location of their hideout in Agidiase village, where an 18-year-old accomplice, Somto Chukwuma from Anambra State, was also arrested.
Police recovered a Toyota Matrix used by the group and a network jammer from the hideouts.
The Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the officers for their dedication and assured the public that criminals will find no refuge in the state.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are continuing to dismantle the criminal networks.
