There are indications that some top government may not retain their jobs following moves by Governor Agbu Kefas to quit the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
An Apc stalwart who spoke to Blueprint.ng during a telephone conversation hinted that both the members of APC and PDP would form the new government structure in the state.
He noted that based on the new political arrangement, the deputy governor, Taraba PDP Chairman, Speaker, Taraba state House of Assembly, Secretary to government of the state (SGS), Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, board members among others may quit their positions to give room for 50, 30% political arrangement.
He added that those in the ruling PDP are coming to meet those who have for over 10 years laboured with the APC in the state.
“We are all happy that finally, the Apc is taking over Taraba government house, but one thing we must all know is they were those who for long made sacrifices to ensure that the APC in the state remained alive.
“Because of the governor’s defection, we have collapsed our ongoing Unity forum meeting here in Abuja and all parties must be involved in the new business of governance in the Taraba state.
“And it is on that note that those coming to join us in our must party Apc must understand of how political interest will play out,” he added.
Efforts to speak with the Taraba public relations officer of PDP to get his take on the new development proved abortive as he didn’t pick up his calls.
The Chairman, Taraba state chapter of the APC, Hon Ibrahim El-Sudi, weekend disclosed that key stakeholders will meet on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 to discuss and agree on a date to formally receive Governor Agbu Kefas into the party.
