Deadline Day: Atalanta reject Bayern Munich loan bid for Ademola Lookman

Serie A club Atalanta have reportedly turned down Bayern Munich’s offer to sign Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman on loan, insisting that the player will only leave on a permanent deal.

According to The Athletic, Bayern proposed a paid loan offer with an option to buy the 27-year-old Nigerian attacker at the end of the season.

However, Atalanta are demanding a straight permanent transfer and consider the suggested €28m option-to-buy clause far below his valuation, which they believe is closer to €50m.

Lookman, who has been pushing for a move away this summer, is open to a new challenge and had been promised he could leave for the right offer, but not to another Serie A club. Inter Milan’s €42m plus €3m add-ons bid was therefore rejected earlier in the window.

The Super Eagles star has since trained separately after briefly venting his frustration in protest, fuelling speculation about his future.

With just hours left in the 2025/26 transfer window, Bayern are not the only suitors. Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray are also monitoring the situation and could make a permanent move before the deadline.
