The Lagos State Magistrate Court successful Ejigbo has sentenced 2 persons for vandalising transformers belonging to Ikeja Electric.

The convicts are Abubakar Alido and Ishola Olatunji sentenced to 1 twelvemonth and six months imprisonment respectively.

Alido vandalised a 500KVA transformer connected Michael Aladesuyi Street, Egbeda, nether the Omo Osho 11KV Feeder, portion Ishola attempted to vandalise a transformer connected Karimu Laka Street, Egbeda, nether the Orelope 11KV Feeder.

After investigation, the constabulary arraigned Alido astatine the Magistrate Court 1, Ejigbo, connected June 14, 2024. He was charged with wilful harm of transformer cables, contrary to Section 339 and punishable nether Section 350 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015. Alido pleaded blameworthy erstwhile the charges were work to him. The lawsuit was adjourned to July 2, 2024, erstwhile helium was sentenced.

Reacting to the judgment, the Business Manager of Akowonjo Business Unit, Abayomi Bolorunde, said the sentences would service arsenic a beardown deterrent to different imaginable vandals.
